Current Research
Stephen is interested in developing efficient computational methods for large-scale genomic analysis. He has previously worked on reducing bias in the human reference genome by developing sequence alignment methods to graph pangenomes and identifying population-specific variants using complete telomere-to-telomere human genome assemblies. He is currently working on developing methods for compressed indexing for pangenome substring queries and analyzing genome similarity. Stephen is a member of the Langmead Lab in the Department of Computer Science.
